The screening of Hrithik Roshan’s latest film Kites has been suspended in all theatres in Chennai, after Hrithiks participation at the 11th IIFA awards which is being held in Colombo, Srilanka.
Sri Lanka as a venue for IIFA has angered many Tamil supporters in India, who allege the Sri Lankan government of killing Tamils civilians at the height of the conflict between army and LTTE last year.
The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Producers Council, Nadigar Sangam and FEFSI had demanded that the actors and actresses should not attend the Indian film festival being held at Sri Lanka where thousands of innocent Tamil people were brutally murdered. Also South Indian film industry has decided not to cooperate with these actors in future and the theatre owners have also decided not to screen their films at all.
