Harikumar was a noted choreographer before he turned hero with the hit film ‘Thoothukudi’, which also saw actress Karthika debuting opposite him as heroine three years back. Harikumar then did a couple of films in ‘Thirutham’ and ‘Madurai Sambavam’ bud couldn’t manage to make much of an impact among the masses.
He is now back with ‘Bodinayakkanur Ganesan’ in which he is paired opposite Arundhati, who was launched as a heroine last year by S.A. Chandrasekaran. The film is directed by O. Gnanam, who has been in the industry for the past 25 years in various capacities. Gnanam debuts as director with this film and reportedly floored Harikumar with his script when the discussion first started.
Gnanam says that the debutant music director John Peter’s tunes would remind the viewers of ‘Maestro’ Ilaiyaraaja. “Though nobody can imagine getting close to the Maestro in terms of ever-green tunes, Peter has done a fair enough job and I’m sure the songs would help the film’s prospects at the box-office,” said Gnanam.
Harikumar got nostalgic when he traced his journey as an actor. “I started off as one of the many group dancers and then slowly graduated to a leading and sought-after choreographer. My transformation as an actor was sudden but had lot of hard work and perseverance. I can’t hope to sustain myself as an actor without the continued support and patronage of my fans and the audience. I’m sure they would love this film too,” said Harikumar.
