Call him controversial, confident or simply the next generation star. But, you just can’t ignore this little superstar. A hero, a great dancer, a director, story and screenplay writer, a sensible judge for reality shows or all this rolled into one? The list that this guy can do at this young age is endless and he dons all these multi-faceted roles with equal ease and poise.
We are talking about none other than Silambarasan aka Simbu, who has been Kollywood’s favourite whipping boy, ever since he made his debut. This style icon of the present day youtth is celebrating his 28th birthday today (Feb 3rd, 2011).
It was ‘Manmadhan’, which established Simbu’s place in Kollywood while his previous films ‘Kuthu’, ‘Alai’ and ‘Kovil’ showed his talents aa a versatile actor. Manmadhan indeed was a runaway hit at the box-office breaking many records especially in Madurai, it ran for 275 days. The film was the perfect platform for Simbhu to show his acting, dancing and fighting skills apart from his behind-the-camera thinkings.
Then came ‘Vallavan’ acting opposite Nayantara, directed by himself which was an average grosser in 2006.
The actor then drew a lot of praise for his looks in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya(VTV), released in the beginning of 2010. From being the mass hero everyone loved to hate, Simbu eventually diversified into becoming a mature and class actor with VTV.
Vaanam, his first movie this year (releasing shortly), has all the makings of a super hit. Let’s hope this movie and all the others to follow will create wonders at the box office, and take him closer to realising that childhood dream ( ‘I am a little star, aaveney super star!’ ).
We at KollyTalk wish him a very long and happy life. Join us in wishing him a fun-filled and memorable birthday!
