Actresses Genelia D’Souza, Anuskha and Sameera Reddy might face a possible ban from the Tamilnadu Artistes’ Association(Nadigar Sangam) for not becoming a member of the association even after acting in many Tamil films.
An official warning letter has now been sent to Genelia, Anushkha, Sameera Reddy, Kajal Agarwal, Hansika Motwani and a host of other actresses who did not register at Nadigar Sangam till date underscoring the point of a possible ban.
All the other state actresses who earn handsome money and fame in Kollywood neither respect the Nadigar Sangam nor become a member of the Nadigar Sangam.
The President of the Sangam, Sarath Kumar and General Secretary Radha Ravi stated that they should become a member soon or face a ban in Kollywood.
It has also been reported that some members of the Nadigar Sangam visited the ‘Uttama Puthiran’ shooting spot where scenes involving Genelia were being shot and demanded that she register as a member to continue acting in Tamil films. The tensed actress is reported to have accepted to this demand. After Nearly 3 years of the Sangam following up with her.
Genelia started out featuring in an ad for the product Fair and Lovely. Impressed with her performance in the commercial, director Shankar cast her in ‘Boys’ and then the floodgates opened for her. She then starred in many Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films.
Genelia paired with Vijay in the film ‘Sachin’ and then tasted sweet success playing a naïve and yet sweet girl in ‘Santhosh Subramanaiam’.
The Tamilnadu Artistes’ Association had in fact informed her to become a member many times but failed to receive any communication from her.
Actresses Anuskha, Sameera Reddy, Kajal Agarwal, Hansika Motwani, Divya Pandhanaas(Kuthu Ramya) and other actresses have also been dispatched letters as they too have not yet become members of the association. It needs to be seen what these leading ladies will do.
Interestingly, actresses Nayantara, Trisha and Priyamani became members very recently after much pressure from the association.
