The name Pandiarajan might strike a cord or two in old timer’s ears. The diminutive actor-director had starred in many films. After working as a director under K. Bhagyaraj, the ‘king of screenplay writing’, Pandiarajan moved away from the director’s fold to direct films on his own. He also starred in many movies as hero throughout the eighties till the mid-nineties.
Now that his son Prithvi has debuted as hero in films, Pandiarajan has started playing character roles besides moving to small-screen. He now plays a significant role in the upcoming film titled Gandham. The film has Tej, who has played lead roles in Kadhalukku Maranamillai and Konjam Veyil Konjam Mahai, as the hero. Rashmi has played the female lead opposite Tej.
Tej has reportedly had a bash while shooting the comic sequences with co-star Pandiarajan. The veteran actor and director taught a thing or two about how to star in and pronounce dialogues during comic sequences. Talking about his experience in starring in the film, Tej says “I have starred in romantic sequences in the film. While filming the comic sequences, I had a hilarious time as Pandiarajan had us in splits.
“I learnt a lot from Pandiarajan Sir. The entire Unit was laughing long after the film’s shoot was over,” says Tej. The film is being directed by Saravanan, who has also penned the screenplay of the film.
