Though it is not confirmed as yet, reports emerging from Singapore say that superstar Rajinikanth has finally ‘decided’ to include ace comedian Vadivelu as part of the cast in his upcoming film titled ‘Rana’. The film would star Rajini in triple roles, a feat the actor performed several years ago for his super-hit Tamil film ‘Moondru Mugam’ and for his Bollywood flick ‘John Johnny Janardhanan’.
Vadivelu shared great on-screen with Rajini in their comic portions in the record-breaking ‘Chandramukhi’ a few years back. After that, he played a minor role in ‘Kuselan’, which had Rajini playing an extended ‘guest’ role. Vadivelu didn’ feature in Rajini‘ last couple of films in ‘Sivaji: The Boss’ as well as ‘Enthiran: The Robot’.
Vadivelu actively campaigned for the then ruling alliance led by Kalaignar which was humbled in the recent elections by Amma’s AIADMK and its allies. During his campaign speeches, Vadivelu took to task fellow actor and DMDK chief Vijaykanth who had allied with Amma. Clearly irked by Vadivelu’s hard-hitting comments on Vijaykanth and about his own film ‘Rana’, Rajini had Vadivelu replaced by ‘Ganja’ Karuppu in ‘Rana’.
This was seen as a ‘body blow’ to Vadivelu who had lost many film offers due to the change in the political scenario in the State after the elections. Vadivelu’s explanation about his mis-placed remarks about ‘Rana’ and about his own predicament was narrated to Rajini, who is now recuperating in Singapore. After considering everything, superstar has reportedly decided to ‘re-admit’ Vadivelu in ‘Rana’ and has also told Ravikumar about his decision.
‘Ganja’ Karuppu, who was included in place of Vadivelu, would also be starring in the film, it is learnt.
