Every husband should respect his wife, says Selvaraghavan

Director Selvaraghavan’s latest directorial venture Mayakkam Enna has started getting rave reviews from the print and television media. The film, which released just 3 days ago, is already being projected as the ‘best performance’ by actor Dhanush as on date. The film, which is the third film from the combination of Selvaa and Dhanush after their Kadhal Kondein and Pudupettai, has created a huge excitement among the youths.

Selvaa’s script has come in for praise from many quarters both within and outside the film industry. The bespectacled director was queried by press-persons as to why should his script has focused so much on the wife’s character in shaping her husband’s career. The director’s reply was spontaneous.

“Each and every woman should be given the respect she truly deserves. More importantly, she should be treated like an equal partner in marital life. Even if a husband starts treating his wife with minimum amount of respect, she would make up her mind to do anything for him; she would go to any extent to save his prestige, honour and even life.

“Instead of showing this in my film as a campaign in favour of wives, I have subtly woven this into the script. I have taken up the case of women and driven home the point that men should try their best and understand the feelings and needs of women at all times. It’s a continual process,” concludes Selvaa.

The film has Dhanush playing a freelance photographer. Tollywood’s Richa Gangopadhyaya debuts in the film as heroine in Kollywood.
