Critics and fans know that she is mightily talented but for some reasons she never got any big films in her kitty. Easwari Rao gets one such big film, albeit a bit late in her career, in the form superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kaala Karikaalan.
Whenever the launch of a Rajini-starrer is announced, excitement about who would be lucky in pairing up opposite him grips the industry. The same is the case with Kaala produced by Rajini’s son-in-law Dhanush and directed by Pa. Ranjith of Kabali fame.
Actresses like Trisha, who had openly expressed their desire to pair up opposite Rajini in at least one film in their career, couldn’t get the offer. Trisha tried her best when Kabali was announced in 2015 but it was Raadika Apte who got the offer to pair up opposite Rajini, despite the controversies she had faced in the past. Raadhika silenced her detractors and critics with an amazing portrayal, though.
Bollywood’s Huma Qureshi and Anjali Patil have been roped in as heroines in Kaala but it would be our own Easwari Rao who would play Rajini’s wife. Rao, who debuted in Tamil films way back in 1990 with Kavidhai Paadum Alaigal, has retained a slim frame over the decades and would be one of Rajini’s two heroines as Huma is expected to figure in the ‘flashback’ sequence.
Santhosh Narayanan scores the film’s music. The huge star-cast includes Nana Patekar, Samuthirakani, Pankaj Tripathi, Aruldoss, Arvind Akash, ‘Vathikuchi’ Dileepan, Saishk Aggarwal and Sukanya besides Rajini, Easwari, Huma and Anjali.
