According to police, Swetha Sreeram, a B Tech graduate and an engineer with Infosys Technologies Limited had gone to her friend’s house in Kilpauk in Chennai to celebrate Deepavali and when it was drizzling, they friends were chatting on the terrace, and while Shweta walked back and forth along the parapet which is two-foot high and she slipped and fell down. Swetha was soon taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
“The young woman suffered grievous head injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital nearby by her friends. A medical team at the hospital declared her dead on arrival,” a source quoted.
Besides, Swetha’s body was sent for postmortem to Government Hospital in Kilpauk after registering a case in this regard. Initial investigations reveal her high-heeled sandals were the reason for the slip.
Film personalities including director Mani Ratnam, Parthiban, actors Karthik and Mohan visited Sreeram’s house to express their condolence. The final rites will be held on Monday after Swetha’s younger brother Skanda arrives from Australia.
