Raanjhnaa, Dhanush’s debut film in Hindi as a hero, is all set to release in screens all over the country on 21st June. Even as the film releases, the makers are also planning to release the Tamil dubbed version of the film in Tamil Nadu to cater to the needs of Dhanush’s fans in Tamil Nadu who might not be able to watch the Hindi version and enjoy and admire their favourite star’s performance in it.
Ambikapathy, the title of a film which starred the late and legendary Sivaji Ganesan, has been chosen as the title of the Tamil dubbed version of Raanjhnaa which has Bollywood sizzler Sonam Kapoor pairing up opposite Dhanush. The film has been directed by Anand L. Rai (of Tanu Weds Manu) and also has a significant role for Abhay Deol as well.
Speaking about his film, Rai says “I have always felt amazed by the works of Tamil film directors such as Mani Ratnam, Shankar and Bala. I thought of dubbing the film in Tamil and release it simultaneously as I can get to relate to the Tamil audiences directly. Ambikapathy is a ‘missing page’ in the love lives of many of us, irrespective of whether or not we are willing to realize it and reveal it to others. People from all age-groups would surely love watching this film.
“Dhanush has delivered a tremendous performance who has reached dizzying heights in his on-screen performance in this film. Sonam is a very good performer and both have done their jobs admirably well in the script set in the backdrop of Banaras. I’m sure Tamil audiences would love it,” says Rai. Dhanush, who hasn’t had much success as an actress in the past 2-3 years, counts a lot on the film’s success to break the bad spell.
“I have always been patronized by Tamil audiences who have hardly let me down. They would have a out-of-the-world ‘feel’ in Ambikapathy which is being released in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. I’m confident that Rahman’s music and Vairamuthu’s lyrics would turn the film into a super-hit venture,” Dhanush sounds confident.
