National award-winning actor Dhanush, who also produces and directs films, has reportedly gone on record that he loved to be addressed as a ‘star’ and was enjoying every moment of him being a celebrity.
Dhanush, who had earlier forayed into Bollywood and acted in a couple of Hindi films (one of them with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan), is presently shooting for his debut Hollywood venture. “I got this offer more than 2½ years back as they felt I would look convincing in this character,” says Dhanush, who also producers his father-in-law and superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kaala Karikaalan.
Dhanush, who pairs up opposite Bollywood’s Kajol Devgn in his upcoming film Velaiyilla Pattathaari 2, says he loved working with Kajol ‘Madam’. “She possessed the majestic look that we wanted her character (in the film) to have; I feel honoured to have worked with such a wonderful actress. Starring in a language alien to one’s own language is always difficult but she showed no signs of it,” Dhanush says.
“I always listen to what my director(s) say and don’t offer my suggestions/ideas unless I’m asked to do so,” he says. “I won’t say I don’t like to be named as a ‘star’ or spoken about as a celebrity; in fact, I have worked tirelessly for 17 years to be in such a position. However, the effect is stardom is that I’m not able to spend much time as I’d like to with my family,” he concludes.
