Why this Kolaveri di against Women

Actor Dhanush is mighty excited about the fact that the song Why this Kolaveridi… penned and sung by him in his upcoming film 3 has gone on to become a super-hit. The film is directed by Dhanush’s wife Aishwarya and pairs the pretty Shruti Haasan opposite him for the first time on-screen. Anirudh, a newcomer, has scored the film’s music whose single-song album was released a few days back.

The national award-winning actor has said that that the song is not intended to be ‘against’ womenfolk. The song has become so popular that it is even played in some North Indian FM radio channels and is the latest rage among the youths. There has, however, been criticism from some quarters that the song’s lyrics appear to be anti-women.

Simbu’s songs Lo0su Pennae and Evandi Unna Pethaan… were also criticized in the past for being anti-women. Dhanush has come out with his own explanation that his song was a fun song and wasn’t intended in anyway to humiliate or insult women and womenfolk. The song has received as many as 5 lakh hits on the Internet within a few days of the ‘official’ launch of the single-track album.

Dhanush has said that “The film is directed by Aishwarya who explained to me in detail about the situation in which this particular song appears in the film. Only after listening to her intently did I write this song. It’s about the character of a girl in the film and not about the entire womenfolk. In fact, I have only written as ‘girl’ and not as ‘girls’ which is proof enough that the lines referred to only the girl in the script.”

Hope the actor’s explanation is enough to settle the issue!
