Bollywood’s lissome lass and the daughter of ex-badminton world champion, Deepika Padukone, would be starring in superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Rana’ as (one of) his heroine(s). One of the top actresses of Bollywood, the model-turned-actress has officially ‘confirmed’ her pairing up with Rajinikanth, the highest paid actor in the country.
Obviously excited at sharing screen space with the man whose popularity transcends States and countries, Deepika says her happiness can’t be expressed in words. “He is the living legend of Indian cinema and the country’s biggest star. I’m fortunate enough to have got the opportunity to star opposite him and am adjusting my call-sheet dates accordingly,” says Deeps.
The film, billed as a ‘period venture’, is produced by Raijni’s younger daughter Soundarya Ashwin and would be directed by K.S. Ravikumar, who has made some memorable films with Rajini in ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padaiyappa’. Both the films were phenomenal successes at the box-office. Observers and Rajini’s fans hope that the combo of Rajini and Ravikumar would score a hat-trick of successes with ‘Raana’!
This would be Rajini’s second period-type film after his ‘Alavudeenum Arputha Vilakkum’, which he did in the late seventies along with Kamal Haasan. Works like preparing the script, dialogue, etc. are presently on for this film, which would not only show to Tamil viewers huge palaces and battle-fields but would also be depicting the superstar in triple roles, something which he hasn’t done since his super hit ‘Moondru Mugam’ days in the early eighties.
The shooting of the film is expected to commence early next month.
