D40 – The ‘D’ stands here for Directors, as the Tamil Film Directors Association has made grand arrangement to celebrate its 40th year today in Chennai.
The mega event is scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. Filmmakers from all over the country would take part in the celebrations. With a number of directors pitching in with their creative ideas for the gala affair, the do is garnering a lot of attention.
‘Aasai’ director Vasanth has churned out a 40-second music video for the occasion titled D40, composed by musician Devi Sri Prasad.
The music album is made of the clippings of well-known films like Naayagan, Iruvar, Annamalai, Baasha, Aasai and Endhiran. It also has has a number of scenes from movies of well-known faces of the 70s, 80s, 90s and this decade.
Vasanth also has made two documentaries which will talk about the achievements of veteran directors K Balachander and Bharathiraja as a dedication to the legends.
The day-long programme, divided into three parts, would have a music show, seminar and a cultural night. While the seminar would track the recent trends in cinema, the music show would see the participation of renowned musicians all over the country.
To ensure better participation, the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council has cancelled shooting today, as asked by Director R K Selvamani ,the organising secretary of the real big ceremony.
