The theatrical release of ‘Action King’ Arjun’s upcoming film ‘Maasi’ has run into some serious bottleneck. Noted producer Y. Surender Reddy has filed for and obtained a court stay order restraining the makers of ‘Maasi’ from releasing it as scheduled on 26th August.
Maasi has been directed by Kiccha and produced by K.S. Kovai Mani’s Anbu Lakshmi Films. The film, an action flick, was scheduled to hit the theatres on 26th August but as it turned out, it wasn’t to be. Reddy claims that the makers have ‘aped’ his story and made the film.
In his petition, Reddy has stated that he secured the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of the Bollywood hit film Risk starring Randeep Hooda, Vinod Khanna and Tanushree Dutta. He has further stated that he has been making Idhudhanda Police-2 starring Dr. Rajashekar in the lead role and directed by his actress-wife Jeevitha simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.
Reddy ha claimed that about three-fourth of the sequences in Arjun-starrer Maasi are similar to the script of Risk. Reddy has obtained the stay order from a City Civil Court in Hyderabad to stop the release of the Telugu version of ‘Maasi’. It is now reported that Arjun has also filed a complaint with the Nadigar Sangam requesting them to sort the issue out at the earliest.
