Actor-director Cheran is looking forward to his upcoming film Muran which is releasing this weekend. The film stars Prasanna in a significant role. Haripriya of Vallakkottai fame is paired opposite Cheran in the film, produced and marked by UTV Motion Pictures.
Soon after Muran hits the screens, Cheran would be playing the lead role in a film to be directed by a debutant. The film would be Cheran’s home-production, it is learnt. Cheran also plays a pivotal role in the film Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal which has been directed by Vasanth, who has made films like Keladi Kanmani and Satham Podathay.
Speaking about the trend in today’s films, Cheran says that Tamil cinema has reached a new level. “Emotional bonding such as the one between brother and sister, college and love life, mother-in-law’s dowry torture meted out to daughter-in-law, etc. have become quite stale; people don’t come to the movie halls to watch these kind of stories.
“Audiences expect something new in every film. As such, producers and directors are under pressure to deliver new concepts and scripts each time. I’m preparing myself to adapt to this changing trend and assure my fans that they can expect to see a new Cheran in the days to come,” concludes Cheran.
