Tollywood actress Bindu Madhavi made her debut in Tamil films with ‘Veppam’, produced by Gautham Menon and directed by Anjana, one of his former assistant directors. Bindu doesn’t hide her urge to make it big in Tamil films and says she would love to pair up opposite all the leading heroes of Kollywood as soon as possible.
Born in Hyderabad, the daring Bindu doesn’t flinch in making her debut in Tamil films in the ‘bold’ role of a sex worker. Usually, debutant actresses don’t take on such roles and tend to opt for soft, romantic comedies. Bindu, however, says that she relishes challenges and that she willingly took on that role.
“I had to prepare myself for the role and do a lot of homework. I learnt to wear a saree for the role. I also learnt the mannerisms, body language and other finer aspects of sex-workers before starting work on the project. Director Anjana, who had watched some of my Telugu movies, offered me this role and I immediately accepted it as it would give me an opening in Kollywood.
“I have done five films in Telugu. If I continue to get good projects in Tamil, I don’t mind shifting my base to Chennai. At present, I have ‘Kazhugu’ and an untitled project opposite Nakul,”says Bindu, an engineering graduate who passed out from Vellore’s VIT. She started off as a model and then graduated to (Telugu) films as heroine.
As far as Tamil heroes are concerned he has special liking for Ajith. “I also like Suriya and would love to star opposite both of them,” adds Bindu.
