Director Chakri Taloti landed up the unexpected opportunity to direct Ajith Kumar in his dream project Billa-2 a few months back. Vishnuvardhan, who directed the film Billa in 2007, was widely expected to take over the reins in the sequel as well but as he was busy with his other film commitments, Ajith zeroed in on Chakri Taloti, who had earlier directed the Kamal-starrer Unnaipol Oruvan in 2009.
Though Billa-2 is a sequel, the film won’t kick off from where the first pat ended. Instead, the script is conceived in such a manner as to trace the reasons and other factors which transformed a simpleton into a dreaded don Billa. Taloti, who has also directed Eenadu in Telugu, is said to be determined to make the film on par with Hollywood films when it comes to adapting technical standards.
Though Taloti takes his own time in completing his films, sources close to him say that he is a meticulous planner and one who likes to implement his plans to perfection during the shooting. Queried about whether he was actually the second choice to direct the film, Taloti says “I just don’t have time to think about how I got the offer or whether I was the first or second choice as director.
“All I’m thinking about is how to make the film in a stylish, enjoyable manner and to cater to the needs and huge expectations of Ajith, whose fans expect more from him now that his latest film Mankatha has been declared a super-hit. I can confidently assure that the film would be worth-watching not only for Ajith’s fans but also for all the movie-goers who always patronize films made with sincerity and hard-work,” concludes Taloti.
