In a latest development, the Tamil Film Producers Council(TFPC) has decided to put a halt on the release of some projects, that have some big names associated with it. Making it to the blacklisted category are Ajiths Billa 2, Karthi starrer Saguni and Dhanush’s most awaited February release 3.
All three of the listed films have been tagged as big releases and were asked to hold on, just to give space to other small budget offerings. The Producer’s council clearly stated earlier, that all movies with that extra star power, have the days of Pongal, Tamil New Year, May Day, Independence Day and Deepavali all to themselves, in order to give budding talents and relatively low budget movies a chance to have a good run at the halls .Just recently during Pongal weekend big star movies Vettai and Nanban had the competition completely restricted among themselves, avoiding an opportunity for other movies to even get the halls booked for the opening week. It is learnt that Dhanush’s 3 that was scheduled for the first week on February 3rd and Karthi’s political drama Saguni scheduled for February 17th has been postponed to the Tamil New Year i.e. Friday, April 13th .Interestingly it will be brother Surya’s Maatraan and Thala Ajith’s Mankatha, going head on head on May 1st , also being Thala’s birthday. Both movies have been postponed from their expected day of release to the opening May Day.
A good move by TFPC, bound to give encouragement to many.
