Contrary to media reports that veteran director Bharathiraja might rope in Ilaiyaraja for his upcoming film titled ‘Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum’, it is now informed that the director has signed up the young music director G.V. Prakash Kumar to score the music of the film.
Bharathiraja, who was elected as the president of the directors’ association, recently stepped away from the post and is now concentrating all his energies in making the film ‘Annakodiyum….’, which would be his first directorial venture in almost four years after his last film ‘Bommalattam’.
It was reported some time back in the media that Bharathiraja had decided to bury the hatchet with the musical genius Ilaiyaraja and that he would be aligning with the latter for the film ‘Anna…’. As it turned out, it was not to be as the director has chosen to go with GVP, nephew of popular music director A.R. Rahman, the twin-Oscar Award-winner.
The composing of songs for the film has already begun. Talking about the experience of working with Bharathiraja, the baby-faced GVP says “Bharathiraja Sir is a great achiever in Tamil films and I couldn’t believe my ears when he asked me to compose music for his film. I consider it a great recognition to have been called by a director of the stature of Bharathiraja to score music. I’m simply thrilled!”
