Almost an year ago, veteran director Bharathiraaja launched his latest directorial venture in Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum (AK) at Theni district. The launch was attended by the who’s who of the industry and the shooting commenced soon in right earnest. Actor-director Parthiban, who was drafted in to play the lead role, was replaced at the last minute by another actor-director Ameer who was to play the lead role.
After some time, Ameer was also dropped out of the project for reasons which were known to all. When the FEFSI issue was raging early this year and when Ameer took a stance in support of FEFSI, Bharathiraaja took Ameer off his project and then located a newcomer named Lakshmanan and paired him opposite Karthika of ‘Ko’ fame. The shooting schedule then kicked off.
For the past few months, though, Bharathiraaja hasn’t given to the press any information about the progress of the film’s shoot. It was rumoured strongly that Manoj, the director’s son who starred in a few movies as hero before getting married, might make a ‘comeback’ in Kollywood by playing a villain in the film. It was also added that he would be replacing Ameer in the film.
A few days back, though, Bharathiraaja has given to the print media some posters and still photographs of the film. Sources close to the veteran say on condition of anonymity that the film might release on the eve of the ensuing New Year or on 14th January for Pongal.
