Back at his place, Bharath is relaxing strumming the guitar, to some Phil Collins’s records. The multi-starrer Vaanam, which also has Silambarasan, Anushka, Vega, Prakash Raj and many others in the lead also have an adventurous role for the actor who is enjoying being in the rock star mode. Here is an excerpt form the interview we had with him.
Hi Bharath, readers at our website wanted to know about your role in the next movie. You must have something to say to them?
I play Bharath Chakravarthy, a rock musician, who dreams of making it big on the music scene. My character has a very flamboyant image unlike the one in my last release, Thambikku Endha Ooru. I am enjoying this; it is a revisit down memory lane, to my Boys days.
Wow, your face says you are enjoying this for sure. The flick is inspired by the Telugu hit Vedam, isn’t it?
The plot remains the same, but Vaanam has been shot more stylishly and is technically superior. My character is quite well-etched in the film. Vega plays my love interest.
As we know the movie has Vega and other Mega performers in South cinema.Acting in a multi-starrer must be a great experience isn’t it?
When you do a solo hero subject, there is a lot of pressure. Everyone expects a great opening from you and a fat box office collection. Multi-starrers are fun and I’m glad that so many leading actors are teaming up these days. It’s a good trend.
Have the issues with your co-star Simbu during the promotions now cooled down?
Simbu and I are great friends off screen and we didn’t have any disagreements. As far as the promotion of the film goes, I joined the crew quite late. So, it was only natural that Simbu dominated the campaign in the beginning. But once I got on board, I too had my fair share of publicity. I have no grudges.
The title song that was released as a single was completely picturized on Simbu’s. Many say it created a bad taste in your friendship is it true?
It was his song and I absolutely have no problems with it. I too have a rocking song in the film titled Who Am I. It’s a hardcore rock song, and I appear in a never-seen-before avatar. The song is a surprise element and I’m sure the audience will thoroughly enjoy it. People usually expect me to dance for my songs but I this time, I decided to just strum the guitar. I concentrated on getting every mannerism right; it was quite an experience. I also keenly observed the body language of rock stars to give my character an authentic feel.
Wow! rock star could you please elaborate on your latest upcoming projects apart from the music shows?
Haha, never mind the music shows, none of them .Although I have four movies lined up this year Vaanam, Tiruthani, Yuvan Yuvathi and 555. All of them will release one after the other and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Great streak! 4 films for the year 2011 already isn’t bad, we are sure you will carry on your rock star image in style. It was nice talking to you have a great year ahead. Our best wishes with you.
Thanks you it was nice talking to you.
Throughout the talk there was never a hint of angst for Simbhu’s dirty tricks. Bharath surely knows how to play his strings well off screen lets see what he has in stock on screen.
