Asin is a busy-bee nowadays. The actress who hails from Kerala appears to be quite determined to make it big in Bollywood and carve out a name for herself out there. She reportedly has five Hindi films on hand in various stages of production opposite top stars. In a recent interview, she answered wide-ranging questions about her career and co-stars in Bollywood.
“I’m slowly feeling my way in Bollywood… the co-stars are nice. Among the two Khans I have worked with so far, I found Aamir to be a ‘perfectionist’ who compromises neither on his scripts or for his looks in his films. Salman, on the other hand, is a spontaneous actor who has his own ways of emoting. In fact, I found it quite a task to keep up with Salman’s terrific pace.
“Of course, I wouldn’t have done what Vidya did in The Dirty Picure to walk away with the national award for ‘best actress’. If you ask me why, I ought to say that the role was surely out of my ‘comfort zone’ as each actress has her own comfort zones of varying dimension. There was no way I’d have put on so much weight for the role; I have no regrets. I’m happy in whatever status I’m in Bollywood at present. I sure would love to do more commercial films before I start experimenting.
“I’m aware that my fans down South would surely miss me; in fact, I miss them too. I’m not shunning Telugu or Tamil films; it’s simply that I don’t want to do the same roles again and again…I’m waiting for a compelling script and when I’m offered such a script, I’d surely star in films in these languages. In fact, I’m ready to star in any language as I want to be known as an ‘Indian’ actress and not as a regional actress,”concludes Asin.
