Actor Arulnidhi plays the lead role in the upcoming film Maunaguru. This will be the actor’s third film after last year’s Vamsam and this year’s Udhayan. The lanky grandson of Kalaignar Karunanidhi debuted as hero in films with award-winning director Pandiraj’s Vamsam last year in a village-based youth’s role. The city-bred Arulnidhi did a pretty decent job in the film which ultimately turned out to be a moderate hit.
Udhayan, which released a few months back and had Pranitha debuting as heroine in Tamil opposite him, failed to click at the box-office despite the pre-release hype surrounding it. Arulnidhi is, therefore, said to be concentrating hard to ensure that his next flick Maunaguru becomes a hit so that he can sustain himself in the industry.
Iniya, who was recently seen in director Sargunam’s Vaagai Sooda Vaa opposite Vimal, has been signed up as Arulnidhi’s heroine in the film. Though Iniya had delivered a great performance in the film, Vaagai Sooda Vaa didn’t scorch the box-office which obviously means that she is also badly in need of a hit.
Despite Arulnidhi’s not-so successful career so far, many Kollywood producers are said to be willing to sign him up in their future projects. Arulnidhi, however, has told them that he would consider their offers only after the release of Maunaguru. He has also gone on record stating that he would only be taking up films which have a ‘powerful’ role for the hero in the script. “I won’t take up any film offer unless its story and screenplay appeal to me,” says Arulnidhi.
