Koose Muniswamy ‘Veerappan’ walked the earth in flesh and blood from January 18, 1952 – October 18, 2004 and the mention of his name will still send shivers down your spine even today. In his list of achievements the notorious dacoit of South earned great reputation for poaching elephants, sandalwood and ivory smuggling worth tonnes, kidnapping and list goes on endlessly. An end was put to his activities in the year 2004 when he was arrested by the Tamil Nadu State Special Task Force headed by DGP VijayKumar after roaming carefree for 20 long years.Now we hear that Director Ramesh is making a brave effort to capture Veerappan’s life and his journey onto celluloid in what appears to be a biopic of the ‘jungle king’.
Many are aware of director Ramesh’s love for controversial themes with his flick Kuppi based on the Rajiv Gandhi assassination being a noteworthy offering from the director . Now the director will touch upon another controversial subject as he tries to translate Veerappan’s life and forest travails onto the silver screen in a movie titled ‘Vanayuddham’.Actor Kishore will play Veerappan in this upcoming biopic of the jungle dacoit.The highlight of the movie includes the incident of Kannada hero Raj Kumar being kidnapped by Veerappan and held in captive for 109 days before his release. Captive Raj Kumar’s role will be portrayed by Nageswarara Rao. Action King Arjun plays the role of DGP Vijayakumar who finally masterminded in putting an end to Veerappan’s adventures in the deep forests. There are also talks of glamorous Priyamani being favored for the heroine’s role with her Paruthiveeran act impressing the director.
This Veerappan biopic is definitely something to look forward to for cine goers.
