There was news that India’s reigning composer AR Rahman had been denied permission by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI ) to perform at The Taj Mahal, Agra. The ASI authorities were a hard lot to please since they had there own reasons before allowing Rahman to perform at the marble mausoleum for his big ‘Ek Deewana Tha’ audio launch event.
However, things came to a compromise with the Fox Star officials getting a green signal to go ahead with the audio launch (on 21st December ,2011)with some minor adjustments . It was heard that the launch would take place at the Mehtab Bagh location but was later shifted to the Lawns of Taj Khema – the eastern gate of Taj Mahal. The place provided a nice view of the Taj in the background, with our wizardly composer filling the air with some Deewanapan :). Speaking on the occasion Rahman said, “The movie has so many romantic songs, so what can be the perfect way to project my songs with Taj as a backdrop. I always want people to recognize my music and this is what I am trying to do through my album.” The audio launch also witnessed the man of the moment performing some wonderful numbers from his latest release. The lyrics for the Ek Deewana Tha album (Hindi VTV) have been penned by Javed Akhtar and while it does have 5 tunes from the original VTV accompanied with Hindi lyrics, there are 2 new songs in this album that are eagerly awaited by impatient Rahmaniacs.
2 new songs people!
