Music wizard A.R. Rahman has agreed to compose music to as many as six new films. The music composer, who is also the winner of twin Oscar awards, doesn’t commit himself to work in more than one film at a time. His flurry of films seems to indicate his willingness to compensate for the fact that he hadn’t scored music to any film during the whole of last year.
Among his films are superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kochadaiyan, billed as the country’s first-ever animation film to be made in 3-D mode using the ‘motion capturing technology’. The film is expected to release as early as in September or on Deepavali as films of such genre require less shooting on the sets and more work on the graphics front.
Rahman is also scoring the music of Kadal directed by Maniratnam. The film marks the debut of Gautham Karthick, son of veteran actor Karthick, as hero in Tamil films. Samantha is the heroine of the film which has been set against the backdrop of the fishing community. Rahman has reportedly completed composing music for this film too.
He also has Vijay’s Yohan, Dhanush’s Mariyan and a tele-serial being planned by Gautham Menon in his kitty. Superstar Rajini is said to have asked him to be ‘ready’ to score the music of next film after Kochadaiyaan. Talking about his commitments, Rahman said “I didn’t purposely keep out of the Tamil film industry last year; it so happened that I couldn’t work in any Tamil film last year. This year, I’m planning to compensate for the same in a big way!”
