Isai Puyal AR Rahman has been bestowed with yet another global honor. Rahman has been announced as the recipient for the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) alongside Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, for their immense contributions to their respective fields. While words fail to describe the genius of AR Rahman and his contribution to not just Kollywood but also Indian music as a whole, it can be said that he will be happy to add those trophies to his collection.
Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna on the other hand is the reigning champion of the classical arena as he has upheld the Carnatic flag with pride in his long years of service to the art form. The veteran singer is known for his intricate handling of Raagas and for his non-conformist attitude, as he single-handedly reconstructed the Tala system from the dying roots. A globally respected figure, Balamuralikrishna has performed to house-packed audiences at international stages in UK, US, France, Russia and many other nations with fans applauding with a roar.
We congratulate both Rahman and Mangalampalli for winning the GIMA honours this time round and carry forward our rich traditions with a spirited zeal, that which they have done all while long.
