AR Rahman selects top 5 songs composed by him

A R Rahman

The double Grammy award winner A R Rahman has given the best songs of our times. Not only are A R Rahman’s music albums the best, you may ever hear, Rahman’s songs have their own individuality, their own freshness.

But a few songs have remained  very closer to the maestro’s heart. The  five songs  he choose are

1.Veerapandi Kottaiyilae from Thiruda Thiruda(1993)
2.Ennavalae from Kadhalan(1994)
3.Narumugaiye from Iruvar(1997)
4.Margazhi Thingal Allava from Sangamam(1999)
5.Kathal Theendave from Udhaya(2003)

“Despite I love all the songs composed by me, these five numbers are close to my heart”, he says.

Rahman sees music as a way to connect to spirituality and embrace it and for creating harmony in troubled times.

On his spiritual side, the Oscar-Grammy winner said, “I am more of a spiritual person. And I believe in being consistent with my spirituality. As one grows in life, one realises the magnitude of spirituality. It is the most beautiful passion. It raises you above all the negativities.I can now see no difference between joy and sorrow”.
