The 16th Critics’ Choice Awards saw AR Rahman kicking of the New Year with a bang  as he grabbed the honors for best original song in Danny Boyle’s film 127 Hours.

The movie 127 hours traces the course of events experienced by a mountaineer Aron Ralston who is caught under a boulder for 5 days. The much appreciated song ‘If I Rise’ written by Rollo Armstrong and singing sensation Dido and performed by Rahman & Dido received the coveted prize.

Rahman has turned the lights on himself again by winning the Critics Choice awarded by the Broadcast Film Critics Association as it is seen as a stepping stone en route to win the prestigious Oscars scheduled to be held on February 27th. However Rahman lost the fight for original score to the Facebook movie ‘The Social Network’ which also swept the awards with the best film, best director and best adapted screenplay.

Expectation will be mounting high for Rahman to grab the Golden Globes again this year.
