Actress Anushka has expressed her ‘burning desire’ to star at least in one film directed by ace director Mani Ratnam. The actress, whose lastest film ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ directed by Vijay has been doing very well at the box-office, is the most sought-after actress in Kollywood with back-to-back hits in ‘Vaanam‘ and ‘Deiva Thirumagal’.
The lanky and lovely lass, who is also very busy with her Telugu assignments, has said that she had been awaiting for a long time for an opportunity to star in Mani Ratnam’s film. Actually, Mani Ratnam did cast her in his historical epic ‘Ponniyin Selvan‘ based on the novel of the same title penned by the late Kalki. Unfortunately, the film which was to star actors Vijay, Vikram and Mahesh Babu, had been abandoned by the director for various reasons.
Talking about her journey in Kolywood, Anushka says “I debuted in ‘Rendu’ opposite Madhavan almost five years ago. Then there was a long gap for reasons which are beyond my comprehension before ‘Arundhati’ brought me back in touch with the Tamil audience. Then ‘Vettaikkaran’ and ‘Singam’ followed and I have now become a ‘regular’ Tamil actress.
“I’m being very choosy with the script and the director. Good scripts with a bad director can actually ‘kill’ a film. I’m very happy to have been part of the hit film ‘Deivathirumagal’ and am thankful to Vikram for praising my acting in the film. My ambition is to star in a film made by Mani Ratnam Sir,” concludes Anushka.
