Ever since superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film Kochadaiyan was announced a few days back, an air of excitement has gripped millions of fans of the star as to who would be pairing up opposite their matinee idol this time around. Readers might recall that Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone was signed up as Rajini’s first heroine in the film Rana but due to the indisposition of the superstar, the film’s shooting hasn’t yet resumed.
Some time back, it was stated that Rajini had regained his old health and would soon start shooting for Rana. Rajini himself had hinted last month that the shooting might start as early as in December or January. However, it is now reliably learnt that the film’s shooting would be resumed only in August next year after the release of Kochadaiyan.
The film, which is to be directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, would be made as a 3-D film using all available state-of-the-art technologies which were earlier used in Hollywood films like Avatar and TinTin. The name Kochadaiyan is not only one of the many names of Lord Shiva but also was the name of the Pandiya King who ruled Tamil Nadu in the 8th century and who was celebrated as one of the greatest warriors of his time. The film’s script would be based on his life, it is learnt.
As far as Rajini’s heroine in the film is concerned, it is understood that one among the trio of Anushka, Asin or Vidya Balan would be chosen depending upon their availability. Lanky Anushka appears to be the frontrunner to play the heroine as she was also in the reckoning to play the superstar’s heroine in Rana as well. Though Anushka has a committed herself to a couple of projects in Tamil, she is likely to ‘adjust’ her call-sheet the moment Rajini’s film goes to the floors.
K.S. Ravikumar would be penning the story, screenplay and dialogues besides supervising the direction of Soundarya. Other lead actors and technicians are likely to be finalized soon.
