Anushka terms her role in Deiva Thirumagal as a unique one

Stunning Anushka is awaiting with bated breath the response from movie-goers and the print and television media to the deglamourized portrayal of her character in the film ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ which is releasing tomorrow. The film, directed by Vijay, has Anushka and Amala Paul in pivotal roles. As reported earlier, Vikram plays the role of a person with ‘special needs’.

Sharing her thoughts about her role in the film, Anushka says “The whole story is about the emotional bonding that exists between an youth who is just a 5-year old boy at heart and his young daughter. All other characters in the film have equal significance but are seen to be supporting the ‘father’ and ‘daughter’. My character has been moulded in a very different manner and is close to being called the ‘best’ in my career so far.

“I play an advocate in the film. Instead of playing the usual heroine who only appears in a few song sequences and then disappears, my role is there throughout the film. In fact, my role is very pivotal to taking the script ahead. The role has given me ample scope to perform and I believe I have put in a decent enough performance. Vikram has delivered an amazing performance. Amala Paul has also acted brilliantly,” opines Anushka.

Talking about her co-stars in Kollywood, Anushka says “Vikram’s commitment level was simply amazing. Vijay, my co-star in ‘Vettaikkaran’, is also a talented actor whose full potential doesn’t appear to have been tapped by any director as he is seen mostly as a ‘commercial’ hero. Suriya is an awesome actor who is also a very good husband to his wife and a doting father to his daughter.”
