‘Mudhalvar Mahatma’, an upcoming film, has an interesting script wherein Gandhi has been ‘brought alive’ to the 21st century’s political world and the story goes on to narrate how Gandhi would have reacted in present day’s scam-filled scenario. The film, produced by Ramana Communicaitons, has been directed by A. Balakrishnan who earlier made the critically-acclaimed ‘Kamaraj’.
Kanagaraj plays the role of Mahatma Gandhi in the film which also has Bollywood’s Anupam Kher in a significant role. The film, which has been made in Tamil and Hindi, has music by ‘Maestro’ Ilaiyaraaja. The Hindi version has been named as ‘Welcome Back Gandhi’. Noted Gandhian Anna Hazare would watch the Hindi version at a special screening to be arranged for him on September 14 at Pune.
When Hazare, who had extolled the youths of the country to fight against corruption, came to know that a film on Gandhi has been made, he reportedly expressed his wish to watch the film as the script of the film resembled his own non-violent struggle to get the Jan Lokpal Bill passed in Parliament.
Balakrishnan is thrilled that his film would be watched by Hazare and is making hectic arrangements.
