Despite her marriage to popular Bollywood star Abishek Bachchan (son of Bollywood’s ever-green superstar Amitabh Bachchan) and giving birth to a baby girl last November, actress Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan’s popularity doesn’t appear to be on the downhill. The craze and clamour among various Bollywood film-makers to cast her as heroine in new films have also not diminished.
That Aishwarya has been signed up as the brand ambassadress to endorse the products of the popular jewellery store based in Coimbatore for a whopping sum of 20 crore is proof enough that her popularity among the masses is very much intact. Kalyan Jewellers, the Coimbatore-based jewellery makers, have roped in Ash to endorse their products for the said sum.
Ash would be replacing her old nemesis and fomer beauty queen Sushmita Sen, whose contract period for endorsing the jewellery store’s products is about to come to an end soon. As readers are award, Ash and Sushmita became ‘Miss World’ and ‘Miss Universe’ in the same year in 1994 and debuted in Bollywood almost at the same time.
Ash, however, soon overtook Sushmita in terms of popularity as well as the number of films.
Ash is widely expected to return to action vis-à-vis her commitments in Hindi films in a few weeks’ time. Prior to this, she would be completing the advertisement for Kalyan Jewellers which would be shot soon. For the two-year contract, Ash would be receiving a paycheck of 20 crore.
