Actor Karunas speech defaming late chief minister Kamarajar at the Thevar Jayanthi public meeting on September 15 at Pallipalayam near Coimbatore has been condemned by Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi. After the speech that was published in Tamilaga Arasiyal Magazine, supporters of the party gathered in front of the actors house at Anna Nagar this morning and demanded an apology from the actor.
Among those who took part in the mass demonstration included Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi state treasurer Puzhal A Dharmaraj, Vice President S B S Lingam Nadar, Asaithambi, R Sivakumar, North Chennai District Chairman Manali R Kumar , Vice President Balaji , South Chennai District President Rajesh , Secretary Vijayan , Treasurer Rajkumar , Central Chennai District Organizer V . B. . Aiyar , Central Chennai district youth wing leader Mareeswaran , R.S. Pandian , Minnal Stephen and other party supporters.
Later the city police arrested around 150 people of them for gathering without permission and lodged them in the society hall at Thirumangalam.
When contacted Karunas, the actor has refuted these allegations and said he has huge respect for Kamarajar, and the leader is one of his role model. He stressed on Kamarajar and Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar are not generic caste leaders, but they are nationalist. And he has not spoken any wrong on the leader, and his speech has been wrongly interrupted by the magazine and against whom, he plans to file a defamation case.
