We had earlier reported that actor Dhanush would soon be debuting as director. It was also reported that Dhanush’s first directorial venture won’t be a Tamil film but a Bollywood film. During his many interviews in the past few years, Dhanush has frequently said that he would love to direct films one day. Finally, he has made up his mind and would be directing the Hindi film next year.
His latest film Mayakkam Enna opposite debutant heroine Richa Gangopadhyay and directed by elder sibling Selvaraghavan has been going great guns. Critics have appreciated the film and have said that Dhanush’s performance in the film, in which he plays a freelance photographer, could be termed as his ‘best’ as on date. It may be recalled that Dhanush won the national award for ‘best actor’ this year for his role in Aadukalam.
Sprucing up his other talents, Dhanush has penned and sung songs in Mayakkam Enna as well as in his upcoming film 3 which is directed by his wife Aishwarya. The song Why this Kolaveri di… from 3 has already become a super-duper hit. The song is frequently played even on Hnidi channels. Bollywood’s Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abishek Bachchan too have become ‘great fans’ of the song.
Abishek, who was in Chennai over the weekend to take part in the ‘Youth Summit 2011’ conducted by India Today, said “I came across rumorus that I’d be playing the hero in Dhanush’s first film in Hindi as a director. As of now, nothing has been finalized though I’m ready to star in his direction. I’ve watched Dhanush from his very first film till his latest film and have found him evolving as an actor to reckon with.
“Besides his amazing acting credentials, Dhanush also knows the pulse of the youths and knows what and when to do to impress them,” concluded Abishek.
