‘Raavanan’ too costly at 50 Crores for sale.

raavanan in south india

All eyes are now on ‘Raavanan’ as it is getting closer  to the release date. The entire cinema business is eagerly looking at the trade prospects of Raavanan(Tamil version) and Villain(Telugu version) in south. The marketers of ‘Raavanan’,Reliance Big pictures wants Rs 50 crore from the south. Reliance Big Pictures expects Rs 35 crores from the Tamil version and Rs 15 crores from the Telugu version. But the price seems to be very high that there are no buyers at this price.

The two big business magnets in Tamil, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Pictures and Dhyanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine had pitched in with reasonable amounts around Rs 25 crores. This price includes the theatrical Indian domestic and television and DVD rights. But Reliance Big Pictures are sticking to their price.

The producers of ‘Raavanan’ feel Vikram plus Mani Ratnam should get Rs 30 Crore for theatrical alone for TN, Kerala and Karnataka. However Mani Ratnam’s last release in Tamil ‘Ayudha Ezhuthu’ had failed to penetrate to the B and C segments.

On the other side there are no buyers for the Telugu version, as the price being asked is close to Rajinikanth’s ‘Sivaji’ price. Tamil movies dubbed into telugu have not tasted success. To add to that list is Vikram’s last release ‘Malanna’ (Kanthasamy in Tamil) and Mani Ratnam’s previous Telugu ‘Yuva’.
