‘Azhagi’ Monica still believes she has enough fuel left in her to make it big in Tamil films. The ‘teenager’ of Parthiban-Nandita’s ‘Azhagi’ more than a decade ago has now blossomed into a beautiful-looking young woman but stardom in Tamil films still eludes her despite the looks and the acting capabilities she obviously possesses.
This year, however, promises to be a significant one for Monica, whose last film ‘Gauravargal’ opposite Vignesh failed to ignite any fire-works at the box-office last year. The plump actress has as many as five films in her hands; all the films are under various stages of production. She has also bagged her debut Kannada film offer titled ‘Happy Husbands’, remake of the popular Bollywood hit film ‘No Entry’.
‘Muthukku Muthuga’, whose audio was launched a fortnight ago, will be her next release in which she is paired opposite Vikranth. She counts a lot on the Rasu Mathuravan-directed flick in which she plays the role of a nurse for the first time in her career. ‘Agaradhi’, directed by Naga Venkatesh, would then be her next theatrical release. on Which she says ‘Agaradhi’, penned by noted author Rajesh Kumar, has a good script it is a thriller on the lines of my earlier movie Silandhi. The film depicts how money takes precedence over everything else in one’s life and how a person’s life is doomed because of over-possession or the lack of it,” In In this flick Monica, who pairs up opposite Pradeep (remember ‘Palaniyappa Kalloori’?) .
She recalls she had some of the memorable moments during the making of Rasu’s ‘Muthukku Muthaaga’ as the crew was like a family and each one of them jelled each other. “Ilavarasu Sir and Saranya Madam, who appear as couple in the film, have done a great job. I learnt a lot be merely observing them while they were giving their shots,Mathuravan was very helpful during the entire shooting of the film.” adds Monica
